Social Influence Jumpstart

Networking is who you know. Marketing is who knows you. Learn how to leverage the most popular social platforms(YouTube, Linkedin and Instagram) to grow your influence, build an audience, establish your expertise and develop your personal brand, even if you’ve never created content before. You’ll learn high level content strategy, story telling techniques, how to scrape for content ideas, best practices for engagement, how to work with teams to scale your efforts, and growth hacking strategies.

Week 1: Content Strategy

Understanding interruption vs. permission marketing and why social media is not a license to spam. If you want to reach more people, you have to teach more people. Content strategy overview using the “content pyramid”—an alternative to Gary Vaynerchuk’s “86 Pages of Insanity” (The GaryVee Content Model). Small group breakout session to define your goals and KPIs. Define your ideal audience. Anticipate needs/wants. Identify gaps/opportunities. Social media platform overview.

Week 2: Content Creation

Define your expertise. Drop and give me 20 exercise. Matching your strengths to social platform (writing, image making, research, analysis, commentary, video, live-streaming, podcasting). Design thinking for content: observe → hypothesize → test → measure → iterate.

Best practices content creation for Linkedin (story formula), YouTube (5 Cs of Content Creation), and Instagram (AIDA).

Week 3: Growth Hacking

How to tap into algorithms through search, hashtags, and engagement techniques. Case study breakdowns. When and how to boost your posts. Guest posting/blogging.

  • Come willing to engage, learn and grow
  • Commit to full participation each week
  • Actively participate in the daily actions provided by your track coach
  • Plan to set aside 3 - 4 hours per week to participate in the track coursework
  • Try new things and have fun!
